Fury as Ogun State Governor Appoint 1,200 Aides

To reinforce its commitment to inclusive governance and ensure broader access to the benefits of democracy, the Ogun State Government has appointed 1,200 political assistants who will act as change agents and promote civic engagement across the state.

In a statement announcing the development, the Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, described the initiative as a deliberate strategy to strengthen democratic governance in every part of Ogun State.

He explained that the appointees, drawn at the ratio of five per ward across the 236 wards in the state, are tasked with deepening grassroots participation in governance and serving as a link between local communities and the state government.

According to Akinmade, the political assistants will help deliver democratic dividends, highlight the priorities of their wards, and communicate them to the government, while also providing clear feedback from government back to the communities.

He further stressed that the initiative aligns with Governor Abiodun’s campaign pledge to involve all wards in his administration’s development agenda and run an inclusive government that values citizens’ contributions to policymaking.

The government urged the appointees to play active roles in driving the progress and development of their wards, local councils, and the state as a whole.
