The Kwara State Government has announced the temporary relocation of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp from Yikpata in Edu Local Government Area to the Kwara State Polytechnic campus along Old Jebba Road, Ilorin.
State NYSC Coordinator, Joshua Onifade, disclosed this on Thursday during a press briefing in Ilorin, explaining that the decision was taken in response to recent security concerns around the Yikpata camp. He said the move is aimed at reassuring prospective corps members, especially first-time visitors to the state, of their safety and welfare.
Onifade praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for what he described as a proactive intervention, noting that the administration has consistently prioritised the welfare and security of corps members in the state. He also commended security agencies for their ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity in the affected areas.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the NYSC orientation course for the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream 2 will begin nationwide on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. Kwara State is expected to host 1,800 corps members during the 21-day exercise.
