Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has announced plans to set up a special forces Military Operation Base in Augie Local Government Area to bolster security and protect lives and property.
The announcement was made on Tuesday during a walima and the commissioning of the APC Secretariat in Augie, named “Kauran Gwandu House.” Governor Idris explained that the new military base would promote peace and stability not only in Augie but also in neighboring communities.
“We are committed to supporting all security agencies in safeguarding lives and property across Kebbi State. The Military Operation Base in Augie will help restore peace and allow residents to go about their daily activities without fear,” he said.
In addition to security initiatives, the governor disclosed that the state government would fully renovate Augie General Hospital to enhance access to quality healthcare at the grassroots level.
Governor Idris praised the people of Augie for their cooperation and urged them to maintain unity, calling on other local governments to emulate their efforts in building functional party secretariats.
APC State Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru, commended party leaders in Augie for their contributions, while APC Chairman in Augie LGA, Alhaji Bashir Mera, explained that the event included special prayers for Governor Idris and his administration.
The program also featured community empowerment, with APC stalwart Barrister Bello Abubakar Bayawa donating a Peugeot 406, ten motorcycles, and ten grinding machines to support local development.
This announcement follows a June 2025 plan by Governor Idris to establish a Nigerian Army operational base in the Zuru Emirate to counter growing bandit attacks in parts of Kebbi South, following incidents in Tadurga and Kyebu villages where lives were lost and livestock stolen. The state government also facilitated the deployment of Armoured Personnel Carriers and military equipment from Abuja, with temporary accommodations provided for troops until a permanent base is completed.
Governor Idris emphasized the administration’s dedication to strengthening security, restoring peace, and supporting social and infrastructural development across Kebbi State.
