Female Dispatch Riders Nabbed for Drug Trafficking in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has apprehended a 21-year-old woman, identified as Queen Chukwu, along with several dispatch riders, for allegedly trafficking cannabis through courier services in the state.

Parading the suspects before the press, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, revealed that the arrests followed credible intelligence which exposed the group’s method of operation.

According to him, Chukwu lodged in a hotel for months where she supplied drugs to clients, using dispatch riders to deliver the substances disguised as food deliveries.

“We discovered that this dispatch rider, instead of carrying out legitimate deliveries, was transporting cannabis. Dispatch motorcycles are often spared from searches, and the syndicate exploited that privilege. The motorcycle was even branded with a food delivery sticker, but in reality, it was being used for drug trafficking,” Bright said.

One of the suspects, Kingsley Eze, from Ebonyi State, admitted to his role, saying:

“I was caught with cannabis. I only helped a client to buy it, but I was arrested during a search.”

Another suspect, Ramadan, also confessed:

“I was given cannabis to deliver. The lady told me the receiver would pay after I supplied it.”

Chukwu herself admitted to selling cannabis, valued at about ₦500,000, and explained that she operated from a hotel.

“Yes, I gave him the cannabis to supply. I regret being in this business. I am from Enugu State,” she said.

SP Bright reiterated the command’s commitment to cracking down on crime, warning that illegal activities disguised as legitimate businesses will not be tolerated.

“In Delta State, you cannot outsmart the police,” he declared.
