Delta Police Arrest Three Kidnap Suspects After Collecting N2m Ransom and Shooting Victim
Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have apprehended three suspected kidnappers who allegedly collected a N2 million ransom from their victim but still went ahead to shoot him.
The suspects, identified as Chukwuebuka Nka (25), Uche Okechukwu, and Somto Chukwuma, were said to have shot their victim in the leg after discovering he had insufficient funds in his bank account.
Police spokesperson Bright Edafe confirmed the arrests in a statement on Thursday. He explained that the operation followed a distress call that a young man had been abducted from his residence in Ogwashi-Uku.
According to him, operatives swiftly tracked the suspects to a bush in the area, where the victim was rescued despite sustaining a gunshot wound.
Further investigations led to the arrest of Chukwuebuka Nka and Uche Okechukwu in Anambra State, where police also recovered the victim’s white Toyota Venza. Based on their confessions, police stormed a hideout in Agidiase village, Ogwashi-Uku, and arrested the third suspect, Somto Chukwuma.
Edafe added that the suspects later took police operatives to another hideout, where their operational vehicle and a network jammer circuit device used during operations were recovered.
