Olubadan-Designate Rashidi Ladoja Overwhelmed by Stream of High-Profile Visitors

The Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has expressed amazement at the steady flow of dignitaries visiting his Bodija private residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, ahead of his coronation as the next Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Speaking on Monday, Ladoja admitted he was “overwhelmed by the number of dignitaries who have been coming to pay homage across Nigeria,” as he received yet another delegation of prominent political leaders.

High-Profile Delegation

The latest visitors included:

  • Former Ogun State Governor, Gbenga Daniel
  • National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola
  • National Leader of ADC, Olusegun Mimiko

The delegation congratulated Ladoja and praised his remarkable achievements across politics, business, and governance.

Daniel, who led the group, described him as “a great politician, a great businessman, a shipowner, and a great governor.” He also recalled their time as governors, highlighting Ladoja’s pivotal role in the recapitalisation of Wema Bank, which elevated it to a national financial institution.

Mimiko lauded Ladoja’s legacy, noting: “His track record made us proud. So, we are his fans, that’s why we came here.”

Aregbesola stressed the visit was purely ceremonial, saying: “We know Kabiyesi is now an old man, so no politics. We are just here to pay homage and show readiness to attend the coronation.”

Ladoja’s Response

In his remarks, the Olubadan-designate expressed humility and requested prayers:
“You should all pray for me because I’m overwhelmed by the number of dignitaries who have been coming to pay homage across Nigeria.”

The series of high-profile visits underscores the deep respect and recognition Rashidi Ladoja commands across Nigeria’s political landscape as he prepares to ascend the revered Olubadan throne.
