Rivers residents throng govt house to welcome Fubara

Port Harcourt erupted in celebration on Thursday as Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, prepared to return to office following the end of a six-month emergency rule.

The Government House was surrounded by jubilant crowds of residents, politicians, and community leaders, all eager to witness the governor’s homecoming. The scene was filled with music, chants, and colour as various groups, dressed in their uniforms, gathered outside the gates awaiting his arrival.

For many, the moment marked more than just the return of a political leader—it symbolized the restoration of democratic governance in the oil-rich state. Citizens who spoke with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) expressed a sense of relief and optimism, saying they looked forward to a renewed era of peace, stability, and development.

“The state has been through challenging times, but with democracy back on track, we are hopeful for progress,” one resident told NTA.

As Fubara prepares to resume his official duties, expectations are high for accelerated reforms, infrastructure growth, and stronger governance in Rivers State.
